A Comprehensive Eye Exam gives optometrists a full scope view of the whole eye and systemic health. Optometrists are the primary care doctors of your eyes. In addition to glasses prescriptions, optometrists assess the whole eye including binocular vision, eye infections, red eyes, foreign body removal, allergies, corneal disease, glaucoma check, contact lenses, retinal health, optic nerve disease, cataracts etc.?
The eye is the only organ in the body where optometrists can see nerve tissue and vessel tissue so they can potentially diagnose other systemic disease diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, various cancers, autoimmune diseases, lyme, multiple sclerosis, increased intracranial pressure, blood disorders, thyroid disease etc.?
Optometrists work hand in hand with Opticians and Ophthalmologists (eye surgeons) to give you full scope eye care.?
Fundus photos and other retinal scans are offered for better documentation and diagnosis of retinal disease.?
Schedule your appointment today for a Comprehensive Eye Exam. Children under age 19 as well as adults over the age of 65? are covered once every 12 months under OHIP.?
